Project updates and TeamDynamix licenses
Project status updates—which include verification of project status, health and percentage complete, along with a brief status description—can only be created in the full TeamDynamix application (TDNext). This requires a product license, which many project managers do not have. If you do not have a product license to use TeamDynamix, the OIT Major Projects portfolio manager will enter these monthly updates on your behalf. You can provide your update to the portfolio manager through email or by using the TeamDynamix client portal. Project managers with a product license should perform their own monthly status updates in TDNext.
Use comments in a project's Feed to provide the portfolio manager with monthly status updates.
Step 1 - Find your project in the Client Portal
- First, ensure that you are logged in to the Client Portal. If you are logged in your name will appear in the upper right corner of the page. If not, then click on “Sign In” to enter your credentials using the Shibboleth Login Service.
- Next, select “Projects/Workspaces” from the black menu bar near the top of the screen. This will provide you with a list of projects in TeamDynamix that you have access to view.
- Click on the name of the project that you want to have updated. You will be presented with a brief overview of the project and will have a list of options across the top of the page.
Step 2 - Enter your status update as a comment
- Select the “Feed” option at the top of the page. You will be presented with a list of status updates and other comments that have been entered for the project.
- Click on the red “Comment” button at the top of the list. This will give you a “Notify” user select box and a large area for you to type your comment.
- Type your status update in the text box. Be sure to include the following information:
- Status of the project - Planning, In Process or On Hold
- Health of the project - Green (on track), Yellow (At risk with corrective actions) or Red (At risk with no corrective actions)
Note: If the project health is Red then you should submit a project change request to adjust the project’s scope and/or schedule.
- Estimate of the project’s overall percent complete
- Any other pertinent information
- Click on the red “Save” button beneath the text entry area.
This option requires the user to have a paid TeamDynamix user license.
